environmental impact assessment

Understanding & Assessing Impacts

For any wind, solar or hydro project understanding and assessing the potential impacts upon the environment is a key part of the development process.  It is important to consider the potential impact of the proposed development from a wide range of environmental and technical perspectives, the process for assessment of the impacts is typically an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) though for smaller or less sensitive projects not triggering a full EIA an Environmental Assessment (EA) would be most appropriate. Within the scope of assessments typically found within an EIA or EA, our in-house capabilities include:

  • Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment
  • Residential Visual Amenity Assessment
  • Cultural Heritage and Archaeology
  • Hydrology and Hydrogeology
  • Flood Risk Assessment
  • Storm Water Management
  • Shadow Flicker (wind specific)
  • Glint and Glare Assessment (solar specific)
  • Noise Assessment
  • Site Access, Traffic and Transportation
  • Energy balance
  • Management and co-ordination of Ecological and Ornithological Assessment

For further information on any of the assessment areas mentioned above please feel free to get in touch with our team in Calgary to discuss the specific needs of your project.
