Gavin established Green Cat Renewables in December 2004 following over a decade of experience in the renewables industry developing wind, small scale hydro and solar projects. From a background of electrical engineering and with a PhD in wind turbine generator design, his broad base of expertise includes project feasibility assessment and optimisation, project management, construction management, commercial risk assessment, environmental assessment, resource assessment, grid connection negotiation and design. In the last 12+ years as director of Green Cat, Gavin has overseen the delivery of over 800MW of renewables projects.
Stephanie has over a decade of experience in the renewable energy sector across North American and European markets. She has a strong technical grounding with a background in engineering as well as significant project development and regulatory permitting experience focussed on onshore wind and ground-mounted solar. In her time in the industry, Stephanie has been involved in virtually every aspect of renewable project development from green field concept development, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), technical assessment, regulatory permitting and permitting strategy, wind resource assessment, technical due diligence, stakeholder engagement and layout design. Stephanie has a wealth of experience in distribution scale wind projects, micro-grid, community generation, remote projects, hybrid and multi-technology systems.
Stephanie holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with Renewable Energy from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. In her role as Director she is responsible for the overarching management of Green Cat’s presence in Canada.
Calum started working with Green Cat during 2011 after completing a BEng (Hons) in Energy and Environmental Engineering at Edinburgh Napier University, and is now working out of Green Cat’s Canada office as a Senior Project Manager. During his 7+ years with the company Calum has had extensive exposure to renewable energy projects, and has built up experience working with all stages of project delivery through feasibility, planning and permitting, technical procurement, due diligence and construction/contract management. Latterly, prior to his move to Canada, Calum was working with the civil construction business in the UK, where his primary focus was on tendering, programming, contract and resource management.
Rami is a Senior Electrical Engineer with over fifteen years of experience in the Energy Industry. He has developed substantial technical experience working internationally and being acquainted with codes, standards and owners’ specifications in different jurisdictions. His experience covers the design, procurement and construction support of Low and High Voltage power generation and distribution systems, with focus on power system modelling, studies and protection. He also holds an MBA, with concentration in marketing and has assumed a lead role on multiple small and large capital projects from concept to Detail Engineering. His focus on lean execution and innovative approaches enabled timely completion and value engineering for many clients.
Ramy is a registered multi-disciplined Professional Civil Engineer (P.Eng./P.E.) in several jurisdictions across Canada and the USA (Engineers Yukon, PEO, EGBC, and California). He has over 20 years of practical experience in design, construction, and management of municipal, infrastructures, capital works, mining, and land development projects/programs. Ramy holds several degrees in various Civil Engineering disciplines including a Ph.D. from USC. He is a holder of provisional patent in the geo-environmental field and also worked as an adjunct professor at several Canadian and USA Universities.
Gavin is an experienced Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager who is currently responsible for the management and delivery of several wind farm projects in their construction phase. Gavin manages all aspects of the construction process: discharging planning conditions, developing Construction Method Statements and Route Access Reports, co-ordinating tender processes, developing Construction Phase Plans, Construction Specifications, Invitations to Tender and Bills of Quantities. On site he has direct experience of overseeing the co-ordination of the various construction elements including roads, hardstanding and foundation construction and overseeing the delivery and erection of the turbines. A key aspect of his role is to liaise and manage challenges as they arise within a tight schedule and with multiple stakeholders involved in the project.
Jason joins our Engineering team and will be leading technical studies as we support our clients in the development of wind, solar, energy storage and green hydrogen projects.
Jason holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary. During his time in the renewable industry, Jason has gained experience in a number of areas including: solar glare hazard analysis, regulatory permitting for wind and solar projects, feasibility assessments, market reviews, and project due diligence.
Alex joined the Calgary team as a Project Manager and regulatory specialist in 2021. Alex currently supports our clients with the regulatory permitting of renewable and alternative generation projects, including wind, solar, energy storage and green hydrogen development projects. Alex supported the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) for 3 years prior to joining Green Cat and brings valuable experience in the regulatory permitting of generation projects, the development of technical studies and project management. Alex completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
Jaimie holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Development from the University of Calgary as well as Bachelor degrees in Biology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). During her time in the renewable industry, Jaimie has been involved in regulatory permitting, due diligence reviews, visual impact assessments, and has extensive experience in feasibility assessments and environmental evaluations of wind and solar projects.
Justin joined the Green Cat team in 2021 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta. Justin brings his keen interest in renewable energy to work each day and is excited to help Green Cat advance the North American cleantech industry.
Justin supports our clients with the technical aspects of a range of renewable energy and power generation projects including wind, solar and battery energy storage. He is directly involved with the preparation of technical deliverables, some of which include: Noise Impact Assessments, Shadow Flicker Assessments, and Solar Glare Hazard Analysis. Justin also has previous experience in assisting clients with project management, construction, revenue forecasting and technical support.
Jeremy joined the Green Cat team in 2021 and holds a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary. Jeremy is looking to leverage his past design experience and shift his focus to renewable energy to help advance Green Cat in the North American cleantech industry. He has previous experience in project management, construction support, and mechanical system design.
Jeremy will be supporting our clients with a range of technical aspects in renewable energy and power generation projects including wind, solar, and battery energy storage. Some of his main responsibilities will include Noise Impact Assessments, Shadow Flickers Assessments, and Solar Glare Hazard Analyses.
Paul is an Electrical E.I.T. who will bring a project from design to implementation with enthusiasm. His recent years in power and energy was built on a foundation developed at the University of Calgary with a keen interest in renewables through the student branch of IEEE, and the student society of Emerging Leaders for Clean Energy.
Before focusing his efforts on school for his Electrical Engineering degree he used to be an accomplished pro gamer in Counter-Strike. These days most of his spare time is spent mountain biking and enjoying the stunning nature that Alberta has to offer.
Margaux joins the Calgary team as a Junior Civil Engineer. She has recently relocated from Halifax, where she completed her Civil Engineering degree from Dalhousie University. Margaux has spent the last couple years working in the engineering consulting industry and contributing to municipal infrastructure projects located across Canada. She’s excited to apply her civil design experience to renewable energy projects with Green Cat. In her spare time, Margaux enjoys playing soccer, cycling, bouldering and hiking. She’s looking forward to exploring the Rockies and catching some Flames games at the Saddledome
