Our lead Civil Engineer Thomas Malinowski, P. Eng., PMP had the opportunity to spend a few weeks in Scotland recently for training with our UK engineering team. During the trip there were a number of visits scheduled to a variety of our ongoing and completed project sites including the House O’Hill site pictured below. House O’Hill is a combined wind and solar project – one of the first of it’s kind in the UK, which was completed by Green Cat in 2015. Green Cat provided all elements of consultancy and development support services for this hybrid project ranging from initial conception, permitting, grid and resource assessment, construction management, build and into operation and maintenance management. The co-location of wind and solar technologies has proven to be a success at this development site, by optimizing the existing grid connection infrastructure. A feasibility study has also been undertaken for the addition of battery storage to provide further optimization to balance the wind and solar resource variability, thus maximizing revenue by enabling continuous maximum export.
